two evils

This month I have rediscovered Wild World by Bastille. It’s an amazing album, and I’ve somehow forgotten just how much I love it. I mostly prefer bonus tracks and Other People’s Heartaches, but Wild World has some exceptional tracks and is an all around wonderful album.

Two figures dancing, one leg lifted, hands touching to support each other. One in blue and green shades, the other in red tones. Little abstract, not much detail

YouTube has showed me a lot of videos about ballet dancers recently, about how much their shoes cost, how many pairs of shoes they go through in a week and how much their feet hurt despite spending a small fortune on footwear. It’s a rabbit hole you may visit yourself. It’s been very interesting to learn about something I know so little of.

It seems like a lot of effort, money and pain to do ballet. I think a lot of things can look like an evil of sorts to an outsider, especially pushing yourself in sports. But not doing the thing might just be worse. The idea of choosing between two bad options, but one being ultimately worse, is such an odd sentiment. I love the atmosphere captured in Two Evils, the raw and pure emotion.

In the art I started with some brush I liked, and at some point decided to go for a bit of a coloured glass look. I think I need to do some glass studies in the future, the result could be really cool.

I’m the lesser of two evils

Two Evils – Bastille

The two evils of my piece support each other, the depend on each other two stand. Only in the face of two evils can either one look decent.
