Nothing But Thieves are back with a new song, introducing a new era and revealing what can be expected from the new album releasing in July, Dead Club City. A very warm welcome has introduced new sounds and a new atmosphere. The Dead Club City is introduced, a place of absolute happiness.
This level of happiness gives me the creeps. It immediately strikes me as wrong and unnatural, something to be cautious about. The message of the art I wanted to create for this song was clear immediately, I just needed a way to bring it across.

I played around with concepts of stitched smiles and blind eyes, but the concept of the album, with lots of promotion posters, eventually made me pick a poster, ripped to reveal some truth.
I had a lot of fun painting this piece; I’m super happy with the expression in the eyes. Improving my expressions is something I currently focus on. I’ve started a sketchbook, and it’s the first time I have a plan and that plan includes specific goals I have to improve my art.
I adore the new song and concept. Can’t wait to let the band Pop The Balloon once the album is released.
